"Dancing Queens” is a movie about a struggling drag club called Queens. This club acts like a home for some of the performers, but its existance is thretned. The movie taps in to the fact that HBTQI spaces are closing and there's a lack of drag clubs left in Sweden.
To raise awareness about the film and the fact that safe spaces ceases to exists, we created a campaign with the goal to start a conversation. We asked the actor Razmus Nyström why these spaces are so important for him and for so many others.
To further spread awareness about the campaign, we sent a "glam box" with a custom made ring and make up to selected individuals within the HBTQI+ movement.
We encouraged our selected individuals to share personal stories in order to start a conversation.
These stories showed a heart warming side of how fun it was when drag and HBTQ+ clubs still existed in Sweden. It also showed the importance of these safe spaces.
